2022 HI Legislative Scorecard 2021-

The following scorecard lists several key votes in the Hawaii State Legislature in 2021 and 2022 and ranks state assemblymen and senators based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

This is our first state-level Scorecard; the selected votes may not be reflective of legislators' overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.

Senate Votes

1. $18 Minimum Wage

Raised the minimum wage to $18 an hour.

2. Establishing LGBTQIA+ Bureaucracy

Will establish the LGBTQIA plus commission to provide programs and outreach to gay and trans individuals.

3. Gun Restrictions

Extends the time period in which an approved handgun permit may be used to make an acquisition 10 days to 30 days. It also eliminates the requirement that authorities physically examine firearms upon registration for transfers by licensed dealers.

Requires any Hawaii hospital in a county with an area greater than 4,000 square miles establish diversity and inclusion training for all staff.
