2021-2022 SC Legislative Scorecard

The following scorecard lists several key votes in the South Carolina General Assembly in 2021 and 2022 and ranks state representatives and senators based on their fidelity to (U.S.) constitutional and limited-government principles.

This is our first state-level Scorecard; the selected votes may not be reflective of legislators' overall records. Their cumulative scores will change as we add more votes. Please check regularly for updates.

Senate Votes

1. Rental Assistance

Disburses funds from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 to assist eligible households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Vote to Table the Elimination of Planned Parenthood Funding

Directs that none of the state funds appropriated for family planning shall be expended to directly or indirectly subsidize abortion services or organizations.

Tables constitutional carry and would leave it so the requirement that you must possess a permit when carrying a concealable weapon or firearm.

4. Vaccine Mandates

Prohibits state and local government entities from accepting federal funds to enforce illegal federal mask or vaccine mandates. Also, no government body or school district in the state can impose a vaccine mandate.

Authorizes the expenditure of federal funds that have been disbursed to the state in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
